Lead Paint Testing
No matter where you come in contact with in, lead paint can be hazardous to your health and the health of your family and loved ones. In fact, lead paint can cause lead poisoning in children and adults and can even cause brain damage, slow development, and reduce attention span. And from houses with older paint to lead gasoline and other sources of lead, you need to make sure that you and your family are safe and protected. If you suspect that you are being exposed to lead pain, lead paint testing is a step that you should take immediately. There are lead paint testing labs available that you can send a sample to and have it tested for anywhere from $20 to $50.
To get a sample of paint to send in for lead paint testing there are a few simple steps that you can follow to ensure safety and accurate results. When you take a sample of paint, use a knife to cut a sample of the paint in question; a good-sized sample will be about two inches by two inches. Place the paint sample in a resealable plastic bag and label the bag with your name, address, and date that you took the sample. Don’t include any wood, plaster, or brick with the sample that you send in. Once lead paint testing has determined that you have lead paint, you can then take the necessary steps to avoid potential harm.
